Toffee Nut Syrup

Combine 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1 cup toffee bits, and 1 cup water in a pot. Simmer on low-medium heat for 7 minutes, keeping an eye on it as it bubbles a lot and using a bigger pot. Remove from heat and add a pinch of salt and 1 teaspoon almond extract. Strain the syrup. Cool it in the refrigerator. Once cool, remove the thick top layer. Bottle the syrup. It is good for 2 weeks refrigerated.
