A rich and savory French Onion Dip made with caramelized onions, a blend of cheeses, sour cream, and beef broth, baked until bubbly and browned, perfect for parties and gatherings.
Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a pan. Add 2 large onions and a pinch of salt. Cook them low and slow, stirring for about an hour, until deeply caramelized. Stir in 1/2 tablespoon of thyme and garlic to your desired taste. Deglaze the pan with 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce (sherry wine would also work well here). Add about 3/4 cup of beef broth and let it simmer until reduced by half. Stir in 2 blocks of cream cheese, 1/2 cup of sour cream, 1/2 cup of Parmesan cheese, and 1.5 cups of mozzarella cheese until well combined. Flatten the mixture in the pan or transfer it to a bake-safe dish. Cover the top with more mozzarella cheese. If using pre-shredded cheese, rinse it with water first to remove the coating for better melting and browning. Bake at 375°F for 15-20 minutes, then finish by broiling on high for 3 minutes until golden and bubbly. Enjoy!
